FARMINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A vehicle crashed into small trees this morning as the driver attempted to avoid a small animal on State Route 66 in Farmington Township.

According to Marienville-based State Police, the accident occurred around 6:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, as 28-year-old Akshay Kumbhare, of Oil City, was traveling south on Route 66, north of Culp Lane, in Farmington Township, Clarion County.

It was determined that a small animal entered the west side of the roadway and crossed into the path of Kumbhare’s 2012 Subaru Outback.

Kumbhare attempted to avoid collision with the animal and swerved to the west shoulder. He was unable to maintain control of the vehicle, and it exited the roadway and traveled an approximate 250 feet before impacting a group of small trees.

Kumbhare was using a seat belt, and no injuries were reported.

Police say summary traffic citations are pending.

The impact caused disabling damage to the Subaru, and Snyder’s Towing removed it from the scene.
