Sligo Man Accused of Grabbing Woman’s Throat, Throwing Her to the Ground

SLIGO BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — A Sligo man allegedly grabbed a woman’s throat and threw her to the ground during a domestic incident that occurred at a residence in Sligo Borough.

According to court documents, Clarion-based State Police filed criminal charges against 39-year-old Ethan Russell McCormack on May 22.

The charges are the result of an incident that occurred on May 22 at a residence located on Madison Street in Sligo Borough, Clarion County.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Trooper Reilly, of Clarion-based State Police, he was dispatched to the above-described location around 7:59 p.m. on May 22 for a report of a domestic incident.

A known female victim reported that around 7:50 p.m., she and Ethan Russell McCormack engaged in a verbal argument which escalated into a physical altercation.

The victim stated that McCormack grabbed her throat and threw her to the ground. She hit her head and right arm off the ground which led to injuries. She suffered a brush burn to her right arm and marks on her throat. The victim also related that she had a headache after the altercation, according to the complaint.

McCormack was arraigned at 10:00 p.m. on May 22 in front of Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey C. Miller on the following charges:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

Unable to post $5,000.00 monetary bail (10%), he was lodged in the Clarion County Jail.

He was released on May 24 after posting a $500.00 cash security.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on July 16 with Judge Miller presiding.
