Coroner IDs Jefferson County Man Killed in Head-On Crash

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) — The Jefferson County coroner has identified the man killed in a head-on collision that occurred on Friday morning.

According to Coroner Brenda Shumaker, the deceased man was identified as 54-year-old Matthew White, of Punxsutawney.

Shumaker told exploreClarion.com that White died as a result of blunt force trauma.

The fatal collision occurred around 9:32 a.m. on Friday, June 14, on State Route 119, west of Albion Road, in Bell Township, Jefferson County.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, a 2014 Chevrolet Spark driven by White was traveling south on Route 119 and crossed into oncoming traffic striking a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling north.

White was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Jefferson County EMS transported the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado to Punxsutawney Hospital for injuries of unknown severity.

Lindsey, Central, and Elk Run Fire Departments assisted at the scene.

Brocious Towing removed the vehicles from the scene.
