HICKORY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A hearing is scheduled for Tuesday for a Forest County man who allegedly attempted to burglarize a Hickory Township house over a year ago.

According to court documents, 40-year-old Matthew Ross Himelright, of West Hickory and currently lodged in the Warren County Jail, will stand for a preliminary hearing at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, in front of Magisterial District Judge Daniel L. Miller on the following charges:

– Burglary – Overnight Accommodations; Person Present, Bodily Injury Crime, Felony 1
– Criminal Trespass-Break Into Structure, Felony 2
– Criminal Mischief-Damage Property, Summary

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Sunday, April 1, 2018, at a residence on Reservoir Road in Hickory Township, Forest County.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 1, 2018, PSP Marienville responded to a burglary in progress at the above-described location.

When Trooper Lantzy, of PSP Marienville, arrived on the scene, the known victim came outside and explained that Matthew Himelright and a known juvenile male were trying to break into her house.

She stated that Himelright was not allowed to be on the premises.

The victim told Trooper Lantzy that she saw Himelright peering through the front windows of the home and attempting to open them. She then said that Himelright and the known juvenile went around the back of the house, and she heard a loud smash. She looked down the steps to the basement and saw the juvenile standing at the bottom of the steps. She yelled, telling them to get out of her house, and then she saw the juvenile run out of basement door. She ran down to the basement and saw that her basement window was broken. She then locked the basement door and ran back upstairs to call 9-1-1, the complaint states.

A search of the area and multiple structures was conducted, with no results. During the search, Trooper Lantzy observed a broken window leading into the basement on the back side of the residence.

Trooper Lantzy then requested a warrant for Himelright’s arrest, according to the complaint.
