2018-5k-used-2019LUCINDA, Pa. (EYT) – St. Joseph’s Liberty 5K Run/Walk, a post-festival finale to the 80th Annual 4th of July Celebration, will be held on Saturday, July 6, at 9:00 a.m. at the historic Lucinda Train Station located at 1040 Lander Drive in Lucinda.

Race day registration begins at 7:30 a.m., and the event, now in its 6th year, will be held rain or shine.

The race will take place on the scenic Rail 66 Country Trail.

Rail 66 was established in 2014 and is a non-motorized, 4-season trail that currently stretches 4.3 miles through the beautiful countryside of northern Clarion County. Built upon the historic Knox-Kane railroad bed, the trail has been paved with a runner-friendly surface. The original paving took place in 2014 and connected Lucinda and Snydersburg. In 2018, paving was completed between Marianne (Paint Township) to Lucinda, and from Snydersburg to Leeper forming a nearly 13-mile scenic trail for biking, running, and walking. Plans to pave from Leeper north to the Forest County line are being considered.

Race awards will be presented to the top male and female performers in various categories, with the top male and female runner each receiving a $100.00 gift certificate. Timing will be provided by Miles of Smiles Timing Services and Absolute Clarion DJ Services will be providing the entertainment.

Entry fee for the race is $20.00 for pre-registered entrants and $25.00 per participant on race day. A $5.00 discount is given for each child under 18 who registers with a participating parent provided that registration forms for all family members are submitted together.

Pre-registration is encouraged.

Forms are available at, on Facebook at @StJoesLiberty5K, or by calling 814-226-7288.

The Lucinda Train Station is located at 1040 Lander Drive in Lucinda (I-80 Exit 60, Rt. 66 north 10 miles) and can be accessed via Maple Drive, which is the first left immediately following St. Joseph Church on Rt 66 N. The station is a short drive from Cook Forest State Park.

All proceeds benefit St. Joseph School.

St. Joseph’s 80th Annual 4th of July Celebration will be held on July 4 from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on the St. Joseph parish grounds. The event features their traditional all-you-can-eat chicken and ham dinners, games of skill and chance for all ages, quilt tent, called-number games, live entertainment and a grand prize drawing worth over $10,000 in cash and prizes.
