Patterson Court BarrelPAINT TWP., Pa. — The fixing of stormwater pipes and other drainage issues and the paving of roads were hot topics at the monthly Paint Township Supervisors meeting Wednesday, June 19.

Supervisors Jeff Corcetti, Ken Ganoe, and Don Clinger passed motions to advertise for bids for the pipes and for paving at the meeting.

Areas to get pipe replacements include three places in Marianne Estates — Patterson Court and two locations on Woodland Road — one prior to Ridgewood Road when entering the plan from Route 322 and another past Ridgewood Road — as well as an area on Kiser Wagner Road.

Another issue on Kiser Wagner Road is to put in a stream crossing, but that will cost at least $60,000.00 to $100,000.00 according to Corcetti. Township Secretary Jacqueline Blose told the Supervisors they would need to have an engineering firm come in to see what needs to be done, and, after Corcetti said they should see if EADS Group could come in, the supervisors voted to check with EADS to see if they could do it.

The supervisors also heard from two township residents about water issues.

Tom Banner, who lives on Hillcrest Lane, says that every time it rains there is two to three inches of water at the bottom of his driveway.

“There is no place for it to go,” Banner said. “The worst spots are at 100 and 102 (Hillcrest Lane). There is no catch basin. It is just pooling in the yards. It’s like a swamp.”

Banner said he doesn’t think there is any drainage on his side of the street at all.

Corcetti said the township will get one of its people over to check out the problem, possibly as soon as Thursday, June 20.

Nancy Skinner, who lives on Doe Run Road also addresses the supervisors about water that was near and on her property saying that the township used to grade the ditches but she hasn’t seen them do that for a while.

“It’s destroying my orchards,” Skinner said.

ROADS TO BE PAVED

The supervisors also approved the advertising of the seal/pave bids. Roads to be paved include Doe Run Road, Bigley Road, Woodland Road, and Sycamore Drive.

DISCUSSION ABOUT HEALTH CARE RESULTS IN NO ACTION

The supervisors had a discussion about the townships health care with Blose presenting them with some different options.

At the end of the discussion, however, no action was taken.

TOWNSHIP RECEIVES COMPLAINT ABOUT GREEN LINE POLYMERS

Blose said the township received a letter from a woman who lives near the Green Line Polymers Plant on Route 66 who was concerned about the smell around the plant.

According to the letter, of which portions were read out loud at the meeting, the smell is so bad the family can’t sit outside. The woman wanted to know if Paint Township had received any other complaints about the smell.

Corcetti wondered aloud if something wasn’t working right, and Blose said the woman had been told by Green Line Polymers something “vague” about how they were recycling No. 1 and No. 2 plastics.

The supervisors and Blose believe the woman will need to contact the DEP.
