The game will resume at Clarion’s Weaver Park at 6:00 p.m. with Clarion leading 4-0 in the top of the fourth inning. Clarion, the visiting team via a coin toss, has a runner on second and no one out with a 2-0 count on Hayden Weber.
Clarion took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a two-out single to left by Brady Pierce which scored Braylon Beckwith from third. Beckwith was hit by a pitch leading off the inning.
A three-run third inning for Clarion was set up by a New Bethlehem error that allowed leadoff hitter Matt Alston to reach. A wild pitch sent Altson to second, and he went to third on an infield single by Aiden Coulsen, who then stole second. An out later, Beckwith walked to load the bases.
With two outs, Jayden Siewiecki singled to right-center scoring Alston and Coulson, and Beckwith scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-0.
Meanwhile, Alston and Jimmy Kerr hadn’t allowed a hit through three innings.
Alston pitched to eight batters, striking out seven of them, while Kerr struck out the lone batter he faced.
The game was delayed at 8:21 p.m. and was suspended less than 15 minutes later when a bolt of lightning was a little too close for comfort.
In the other game in the tournament, KRE (Knox-Rimersburg-Emlenton) cruised to a 10-1 win over Titusville at Titusville. No other details were reported. KRE will play at Oil City Wednesday while the Clarion/New Bethlehem winner will take on Franklin, also on Wednesday. Titusville moves into the loser’s bracket.
