NO. 14 -EMMA STEVENSON WINS D10 1,600-METER TITLE IN DRAMATIC FASHION
Photo finishes in track and field are usually reserved for the springs, not longer races like the 1,600-meter run.
Don’t tell that to Oil City’s Emma Stevenson, who won the District 10 Class 2A title in the event in dramatic fashion edging Sharpsville’s Lauren Mehler by a mere 3/100th of a second to take home crown and earn a spot in the PIAA Championships in one of the most exciting races at the D10 championships at Slippery Rock University May 18.
Stevenson crossed the line in a time of 5:26.56 with Mehler finishing second in a time of 5:26.59.
