2018-19 Highlights: Hipps was a large reason Clearfield won the District 9 Class 3A softball title and advanced to the PIAA Semifinals. She was named the D9Sports.com District 9 Softball Rookie of the Year after going 13-9 in the circle with a 1.54 ERA. In 149 ⅔ innings of work, she struck out 241 and walked 42 … At the plate, Hipps hit a team-leading .416 with six home runs, eight doubles, a triple and 18 RBIs while recording a 1.250 OPS.
Post-High School Plans: She wants to attend college and is hoping to play sports in college.
Q&A With Emma Hipps
D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in and why?
EH: Softball because i have a natural love for the sport.
D9Sports: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
EH: Hitting a home run my first pitch of my first at bat in my first varsity game.
D9Sports: Why do you play high school sports?
EH: I believe playing high school sports makes you a better student and I enjoy playing with my friends.
D9Sports: Who has had the most influence on your athletic career and why?
EH: My family because they encourage me to make sure I’m the best that I can be.
D9Sports: If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be and why?
EH: Girls sports getting the same recognition as guy sports because girls practice and put in the same amount of work as guys do.
D9Sports: If you could be president for a day, what would be the one major thing you would do?
EH: It would take more than one day for me to accomplish my major thing which is to stop all the violence.
D9Sports: What is your ideal place to live? County, City, Suburb? Why?
EH: I would like to live in a rural area with few neighbors and lots of land.
D9Sports: What would someone who doesn’t know you be surprised to find out about you?
EH: I’m very shy and get nervous easily.
D9Sports: What is your strongest subject in school?
EH: Math
D9Sports: If there was one period in history or one event in history you could go back to, what would it be?
EH: When Abraham Lincoln was our president.
D9Sports: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
EH: Who’s my hero? That would have to be my mom because she’s such a strong woman and never gives up. She’s beaten cancer and continues to live her life like it never happened and I pray that when I’m older, I’ll be like her.
