JENKS TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A prisoner at SCI Forest is facing 173 criminal charges after he allegedly sent numerous letters to an ex-girlfriend threatening to kill her, her boyfriend, and then himself.

According to court documents, charges were filed on July 2 against 53-year-old Terence Allen Poole, an inmate at SCI Forest located at 286 Woodland Drive, in Jenks Township, Forest County.

The charges are the result of threatening letters Poole is accused of sending to a known victim between the time period of January 10, 2017, to May 3, 2019.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Trooper Shawn Nicewonger, of Marienville-based State Police, on April 25, 2019, he was contacted regarding a threatening letter written by Terence Poole. Poole states in the letter that upon his release from prison, he is going to kill a known victim, her boyfriend, and then himself.

On April 29, Trooper Nicewonger interviewed the victim who stated that she dated Poole for two or three years with the relationship ending in March of 2014. Six months after the relationship ended, Poole was arrested. During his incarceration, he has sent her “hundreds’ of letters. The victim indicated that she last received a letter from Poole three days ago. The victim advised that she sent him a letter several years ago telling him to stop sending her letters and to leave her alone. She also explained that Poole is not allowed to send her letters anymore but does anyway, according to the complaint.

The victim stated that she has received letters that are addressed to her son who lives with her and letters are addressed to her dog “Luna.”

The victim indicated that she is very afraid of Poole and believes that he may carry out his threats upon his release. She feels that her life is definitely in danger when he is released from prison. She stated that she knows that when he gets out, she’ll always have to look over her shoulder, the complaint indicates.

On May 2, SCI Forest provided Trooper Nicewonger with documentation dated October 8, 2016, showing that the victim contacted SCI Forest to request a cease communication order from inmate Terrence Poole. This was done after Poole continued to send threatening letters to her. Trooper Nicewonger was also provided with a cease communication order dated February 5, 2017, pertaining to the victim’s son.

Additionally, Trooper Nicewonger was provided with documentation dated June 27, 2018, stating that Poole was disciplined for authoring two threatening letters, one to the victim and one to another individual.

The letter to the victim states: “things could get really bad when I see you with someone. I love you and I’m coming for you.”

The second letter was also threatening in nature.

On May 2, 2019, at 10:04 a.m., Trooper Nicewonger interviewed Poole at SCI Forest.

According to the complaint, Poole admitted to “sending the victim hundreds of letters, possibly nearing 400.”

The complaint states that he admitted that he sent these letters to the victim and her son knowing that he was not permitted to do so. Poole acknowledged sending a letter to his daughter in which he threatened the victim.

On June 17, the victim provided Trooper Nicewonger with the letters that she received from Poole. Upon inspection, it was determined that approximately 79 letters or postcards were mailed from SCI Forest inmate Terrence Poole, and 47 of the letters or postcards communicated a threat either directly or indirectly.

Trooper Nicewonger pointed out one letter dated May 17, 2018, that was authored by Poole and sent to the victim.

Poole states: “I’m getting out very soon and I can’t wait to see your face when you see me. I just hope like hell your not with someone else because that will not be good for him, trust me.”

He goes on to say: “I will never let you go. I will kill anyone that trys to get in my way. You know I’m coming for you.”

Many of the other letters that Poole sent communicated a direct or indirect threat to commit a crime of violence against the victim, according to the complaint.

The following criminal charges were filed in Magisterial District Judge Daniel L. Miller’s office on July 2:

– Terroristic Threats W/Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1 (47 counts)
– Stalking — Repeatedly Communicate To Cause Fear, Misdemeanor 1 (47 counts)
– Harassment — Communicate Repeatedly in Another Manner, Misdemeanor 3 (79 counts)

A preliminary hearing date has not been set.
