Jones Named Strength and Conditioning Coach

CLARION, Pa. – Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Wendy Snodgrass announced on Thursday that Erik Jones will take over as Clarion’s strength & conditioning coach.

Jones comes to Clarion from Robert Morris University, where he spent the last year as a graduate assistant strength & conditioning coach.

“I am pleased to announce that Erik Jones has accepted the position of strength & conditioning coach,” Snodgrass said. “This position is crucial for our student-athletes in that it not only allows them to maximize their workouts and improve their performance but also helps in safety and injury prevention. I am sure that Erik will be an excellent fit in our department.”

Jones has spent the last several years working in the NCAA Division I ranks, most recently as a graduate assistant with the Colonials during the 2018-19. He was in charge of coaching and designing programs for the Division I softball and women’s lacrosse programs while also assisting with football and men’s lacrosse. Before that he spent a year as a graduate assistant sports performance coach at Louisiana-Monroe, where he worked closely with the football program while also taking the lead in designing and implementing programs for softball, men’s and women’s golf and cross country. Jones also spent a year with Villanova as an assistant director of strength & conditioning, including a brief period as the university’s interim director.

He also has familiarity with the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), as Jones earned his undergraduate degree at Bloomsburg in 2016. A volunteer strength & conditioning coach in 2016, Jones received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science while assisting with coaching and designing programs for all of the school’s Division II sports.

In addition to his B.S. from Bloomsburg in 2016, Jones will earn his Masters of Science in Organizational Leadership from Robert Morris in August 2019. He is a certified strength & conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and has been regularly CPR/AED certified since 2014.
