VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) — A Venango County man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly threatened to shoot a woman in the head during a domestic dispute.

According to court documents, the following charges were filed against 50-year-old Richard E Eakin Jr., of Cooperstown, in Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office on July 24:

– Terroristic Threats W/Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2

The charges stem from a domestic dispute that occurred at a business located on US 322 in Franklin, Venango County.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Lieutenant Ashbaugh, of the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department, the station received a 9-1-1 dispatch to the above-described location for the report of a domestic in which an actor threatened to shoot the victim. It was reported that the actor left the area.

Officers on location interviewed the victim who reported that the location was hers and Richard Eakin’s place of business. The victim and Eakin are separated.

The victim reported that around 10:00 a.m., the two entered into an argument in reference to the victim’s brother repairing the victim and Eakin’s daughter’s vehicle, according to the complaint.

Eakin became enraged and left the property in his vehicle.

The victim reported that around 10 minutes later, Eakin returned to the business and stated that “it was his daughter and that he should have taken care of her vehicle not the victim’s brother.”

He then stated that the victim “was a bad wife, and he should shoot her in the head and just take care of it,” according to the complaint.

The victim was escorted to the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department, and she signed a statement form swearing the information was true and correct.

Eakin was arraigned around 1:30 p.m. on July 24.

He is free on $25,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, in Venango County Central Court with Judge Lowrey presiding.
