According to court documents, the Brookville Borough Police Department filed the following criminal charges against 24-year-old Traa Alan Wagner, of Summerville, on Wednesday, August 7:

– Forgery — Unauthorized Act In Writing, Felony 2 (two counts)
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 2
– Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 2
– Possession of Instrument Of Crime W/Intent, Misdemeanor 1 (two counts)

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Tuesday, August 6, at McDonald’s located at 249 Allegheny Blvd. in Brookville, Jefferson County, involving Traa Wagner.

According to a criminal complaint filed on August 7 by Senior Police Officer Hollobaugh, of the Brookville Police Department, around 5:00 p.m. on August 6, he met with Chief of Police Vince Markle regarding a theft that occurred at McDonald’s.

The fast-food restaurant manager reported that an employee — Traa Wagner — placed two counterfeit $100.00 bills in the drive-through register and took out $200.00 cash. A copy of the surveillance footage was obtained.

Traa Wagner was contacted and requested to come to the borough police station.

Wagner arrived around 5:40 p.m. on August 6 and was read his Miranda rights, and he agreed to talk to Chief Markle and Officer Hollobaugh.

When asked if he knew why he was called to the station, he said that it probably involved his work (McDonald’s). Wagner mentioned about a couple of fake $100.00 bills getting into his register on that day, the complaint states.

Wagner told Chief Marker at one point in the interview: “They have video, you know everything, I don’t know why we are playing this game. I am stupid. I put two fake $100.00 bills in the register and took $200.00 out,” according to the complaint.

Wagner allegedly told Chief Markle that he did this because his probation officer wanted him to pay fines by Friday, August 9, or he would go to jail. He stated that he got the money from his kids’ play money, the complaint indicates.

Due to the pending charges in this case, Jefferson County Probation requested that Wagner be housed in the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. on September 3 in front of Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak.
