police-new-colorfulELDRED TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say an investigation into a suspected DUI in Eldred Township involving an infant in the vehicle is currently underway.

According to Marienville-based State Police, around 12:20 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, a motor vehicle was observed stopped on the shoulder of State Route 36 northbound in Eldred Township, Jefferson County, with its emergency hazard light activated.

Police say contact was made with the driver, 29-year-old Rikki Mae Hoessler, of Vandergrift, and a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle.

According to police, it was determined that Hoessler was under the influence of marijuana, and Hoessler also admitted to being in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Police say an eight-month-old female infant was also in the vehicle at the time.

Hoessler was then transported to the Brookville Hospital for a blood draw.

The investigation is ongoing.
