Q&A With Maura Fledderman

D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in and why?
MF: Softball because it has taught me life lessons that I will remember for the rest of my life on and off the field.

D9Sports: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
MF: My favorite memory from high school sports is when I played Clearfield as a sophomore in playoffs. I was pitching a really good game then I was hit with a line drive while pitching (I still have a bruise from it to this day) and I stood right back up and started pitching again then later in the game I ended up having the winning hit that took us into the championship game!

D9Sports: Why do you play high school sports?
MF: I play high school softball because it is where I can get competitive practice in to get ready for summer travel ball.

D9Sports: Who has had the most influence on your athletic career and why?
MF: My dad. He has pushed me to what no other person could ever. All of his time and effort goes into me so I can perform at my best. I could never thank him enough for all of his help.

D9Sports: If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be and why?
MF: I would change the ability of a parent coach. It leads to favoritism and the outcome of a parent coach does not always do what’s best for the team.

D9Sports: If you could be president for a day, what would be the one major thing you would do?
MF: If I were president for a day I would lower gas prices and recognize every one of our troops.

D9Sports: What is your ideal place to live? County, City, Suburb? Why?
MF: My ideal place to live is right where I do now in Kersey, PA. I love being in the woods and living my life in peace.

D9Sports: What would someone who doesn’t know you be surprised to find out about you?
MF: I love little kids and can’t wait to be a mom someday in the future!

D9Sports: What is your strongest subject in school?
MF: Chemistry

D9Sports: If there was one period in history or one event in history you could go back to, what would it be?
MF: Vietnam War

D9Sports: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
MF: What is another activity you enjoy doing outside of high school sports? I enjoy hunting with my dad, if I’m not on the field I’m definitely somewhere in the woods with him.
