Police: Emlenton Man Facing Charges After Firing Shots During Domestic Dispute

SCRUBGRASS TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police say an Emlenton man is facing criminal charges following a domestic altercation involving a gun that occurred early Sunday morning in Scrubgrass Township.

Around 3:21 a.m. on Sunday, August 18, Franklin-based State Police responded to a residence on Big Bend Road in Scrubgrass Township for a report of a domestic altercation involving a gun and two intoxicated individuals.

According to police, a known 34-year-old Emlenton man and a known 39-year-old Emlenton woman were in a verbal argument when the man went to the basement of the residence and retrieved a gun. The woman then ran from the house and hid in her vehicle.

Police say the woman heard a shot coming from the porch, approximately 30 feet away.

While police were en route to the location, the female reported hearing a second shot.

According to police, the male also called 9-1-1, and related that he wanted to kill himself.

Police say upon their arrival, the man was apprehended without incident.

Charges of reckless endangerment, simple assault, and disorderly conduct have been filed through District Court 28-3-03.
