Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Garnet Craig, and by a grandson, Ryan Craig. Also preceding him in death was his brother-in-law, Larry Cratty.
He fondly spoke of growing up spending every summer working at his grandparents’ farm in Rimersburg. After leaving high school, he worked for several years as a laborer in a local sawmill. The majority of his working years, however, was spent as a dynamite blaster and salesman for Amos L. Dolby and Company and later for Wampum Hardware, both explosives companies. During these years, he made many friends and acquaintances. Carl had a gift for sharing funny stories and making those around him feel at ease.
Carl was a patient, caring, and easygoing person who above all loved his family. Some of his most treasured memories were of playing country music with his family. Throughout the years, he enjoyed playing guitar and singing with his parents (Tom and Garnet) at various square dances, VFWs, and reunions. He greatly valued and enjoyed family traditions and music was an important family tradition. Most get-togethers with family and friends included making music and this love of music has been passed down to his children and grandchildren.
Prior to his decline in health, Carl and Gloria enjoyed many fishing adventures in Canada with family, and traveling with his parents to Branson, Missouri, and to Nassau in the Bahamas. His last big vacation was to San Francisco, California, with his sister and brother-in-law, Diann and Larry.
