Kratzer PicJohn W. Kratzer, age 91, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Laurelbrooke Landing in Brookville following his battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

John was born on November 9, 1927 in Cleveland, OH, the son of the late Elwood and Ruth Kratzer of Lewistown, PA. He served his country in World War II as First Class seaman in the United States Navy. John worked at Noerr Motor Freight in Lewistown until he transferred to Bakersfield, CA where he later ran a successful window cleaning business.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, who he married on March 3, 1979 in CA, where they lived until they retired to Ft. Myers, FL, in 1991. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting and camping. They moved to Clarion in 2001 and loved the Penn State Nittany Lions football games.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his stepson, John Truscott (Carol), of Clarion; daughter, Robin Watanabe (Clyde), of Oklahoma City, OK; sons Matthew Nash, of San Francisco, CA, and Tim Kratzer, of Yeagertown, PA; and his stepdaughter, Bonnie Trescott, of Pittsburgh; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark; and 2 brothers, Elwood and Ken; and his sister Doris Bollinger.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. Services will be held privately.
