North Clarion XC Brings Home 13 Medals Saturday at Big Red Invite

North Clarion XC at Big Red InviteNEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The North Clarion cross country teams competed at the Big Red Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 7, and brought home 13 individual medals.

The varsity boys finished 23rd out of 33 teams and were led by medal winner Jacob Bauer who finished 39th overall with a time of 18:11. Finishing second for North Clarion was Kaine McFarland (109), followed by Ryan Parrett (136), Braden Custer (153), and Nick Gilara (169).

The girls’ varsity team brought home three medal winners, Katie Bauer (41st), Kayla Aaron (44th), and Nicole Fair (50th). They finished eighth overall out of 29 teams. Finishing out the scoring for North Clarion was Jordyn Hendrickson (59th) and Addison Shaftic (81st).

The junior high boys finished fourth out of 26 teams bringing in their top five runners within 37 seconds of one another. Patrick Young (26th) and Dane Sliker (38th) both medalled for their team. Rounding out the top five were Gabriel Fair (52nd), Nathan Culp (53rd), and Mason Shaftic (63rd).

The junior high girls also brought home two medal winners and finished 7th out of 19 teams. Leading the way was Emma Buckley (38th) and Ava Best (41st). They were followed by teammates Brynn Siegel (66th), Kaylee Castner (90th), and Akeela Greenawalt (96th).

The JV teams did not have enough runners to score in the boys or girls race. Darcie Maul was the leader of the girls JV race and won overall. She was followed by three other teammates who were also medal winners: Liz Traugott (8th), Rachel Bauer (12th) and Emily McCaslin (35th). Zackery Hawk led the two North Clarion boys finishing 48th overall followed by Owen Shaffer finishing 58th overall.
