Strattanville Man Who Assaulted Woman to Be Sentenced Tomorrow
According to court documents, 43-year-old James Stewart McCoy, III is scheduled to be sentenced at 9:00 a.m., on Wednesday, September 11, in front of Clarion County President Judge James G. Arner.
McCoy pleaded guilty to one second-degree misdemeanor count of simple assault on August 14, 2019, in the Clarion County Court of Common Pleas.
As a result of the plea agreement, a summary count of harassment was dismissed.
McCoy remains lodged in the Clarion County Jail.
The charges stem from a domestic incident that occurred on May 26 at a residence located on Southern Avenue in Strattanville, Clarion County.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Trooper McGinnis, the Clarion-based State Police station received a domestic violence call around 12:30 p.m. on May 26.
The victim reported that around 12:25 p.m., James S. McCoy – her live-in boyfriend of two years – and she engaged in a verbal argument which escalated into a physical altercation. During the physical altercation, McCoy reportedly grabbed the victim and threw her down on the hallway floor, according to the complaint.
The victim suffered a small cut to the chest region, the complaint states.
A criminal complaint against McCoy was filed on May 26.
He was arraigned at 10:00 a.m. on July 24.
