Team Colors Verified for Clarion, C-L, North Clarion Co-Op Football Team
CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – In what may be the worst kept secret in the Clarion area, the new colors for the cooperative football program of Clarion Area, Clarion-Limestone, and North Clarion will be navy blue and orange, according to Clarion Area Superintendent Joe Carrico.
“The voting for the colors is almost complete, and the vast majority favor navy blue and orange,” Carrico said. “We’re going to be doing a mascot and name contest with the student population that’s going to wrap up by the end of October. We then will make that public announcement and start looking to uniforms into November and December.”
The second phase of selecting a new name and mascot for the team has already started.
“The English teachers from the three school districts — Clarion Area, Clarion-Limestone, and North Clarion — have been sent instructions for the contest because the kids have to do a written essay. The big keys in the contest are that the name and mascot have to be historically relevant and specific to our area.”
Next is a graphic treatment for the new mascot.
“Then, the kids have to come up with a drawing of the mascot, so we know what they are thinking about. Over the winter, we’ll take that concept, and have it done professionally. The contest should officially wrap up by October 31. We’ll narrow it down to about three semi-finalists, and then we’ll use the same process that we did for the colors.”
