Police Situation Ends as Suspect Taken into Custody

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A suspect was taken into custody on Wednesday morning, ending a police situation in Clarion County that lasted for nearly twelve hours.

Sources say a known male suspect was taken into custody around 8:00 a.m. The suspect was being evaluated by medical personnel near a boat launch along the Clarion River in the area of U.S. Route 322.

The incident began Tuesday around 9:00 p.m. when several police vehicles responded to the area of the Clarion River Bridge along U.S. Route 322 to search for the known male. At least one state police helicopter was dispatched to aid in the search.

Police said the man was not considered a danger to the public.

A portion of U.S. Route 322 between Clarion and Shippenville was closed for several hours during the search. It reopened Wednesday around 8:40 a.m.

A representative of Clarion-based State Police indicated that state police officials will issue a press release as soon as additional information is available.
