Say What?!: Sign Requesting Beer Money Caught on ESPN Broadcast Nets Fan $20,000

AMES, Iowa – A fan’s sign requesting beer money that was caught in the background of an ESPN broadcast ended up helping to raise over $20,000 for charity.

24-year-old Carson King, the fan with the sign, noted that what was intended as a joke ended up turning into a fundraiser for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City.

King’s Venmo reached $20,000 by Tuesday night, and both Busch Beer and Venmo both said on Twitter they would be make matching contributions in honor of King’s generosity.
