Charles J. Dunkel
Born April 3, 1939, in Oil City, he was a son of the late Charles H. and Cleila Miller Dunkel.
After graduating from Oil City High School, Chuck served in the US Army for several years. A meat cutter by trade, Mr. Dunkel worked for several grocers, retiring from Thorne’s in Warren after 16 years.
Mr. Dunkel attended Second Presbyterian Church in Oil City. He enjoyed hunting, leatherwork, playing cards, and spending time with his family.
On July 5, 2014, he was married to the former Carol A. Long in Two Mile Run County Park, and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Chuck is survived by two sons, Dave Dunkel, and Roger Dunkel of Onslo, IA; two daughters, Vickie Dunkel of Maquoketa, IA, and Tammie Dunkel of Delmar, IA; two step-sons, Steve Long and his wife Lori of Oil City, and Jeff Long and his wife Angie of Columbus, OH; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Also surviving are a brother, Ernest Dunkel of Tennessee; a sister, Gertrude McBride of Plumer; and a brother-in-law, Bill Allen of Kaneville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Herb Dunkel; and four sisters, Mabel, Pearl, Illah, and Bernadine.
Friends will be received at the Morrison Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Tim Harmon officiating. Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery.
