Woman Accused of Violent Assault Outside Area Bar

PUNXSUTAWNEY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — A 28-year-old woman is facing assault and related charges following an incident in which she allegedly shoved, punched, and kicked another woman, causing a nasal fracture that required surgery.

Court documents indicate the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 28-year-old Jacklynn Lee Adams, of Hamilton, Jefferson County, on September 19.

According to a criminal complaint, around 2:11 a.m. on March 31, Officers Kidder and Panebianco, of the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department, were called to a bar on West Mahoning Street in Punxsutawney for a report of an assault that took place in front of the business.

The officers arrived at the scene and met with the known female victim, who reported that she walked outside of the bar and Jacqueline Adams came up behind her and grabbed her.

According to the complaint, the victim stated that Adams then pushed her out into the middle of the street and proceeded to punch her in the face twice and also kicked her in the ribs. Adams then left the victim lying in the middle of the street and left the scene.

The complaint notes that a known male witness also reported that a female, known as “Jackie,” followed the victim outside and began yelling at the victim, pushing her, and putting her finger in the victim’s face. The witness went on to state that Adams pushed the victim into the street and then began punching the victim in the face and also kicked her in the ribs. He reported Adams then left the victim lying in the street and got in her vehicle and drove away.

The witness helped the victim to her feet and waited with her while she called 9-1-1. The victim was then transported to Punxsutawney Hospital for evaluation and treatment of her injuries. The victim had a cut above her left eye, injuries to her face and right elbow, and complained of pain in her ribs, the complaint indicates.

According to the complaint, during a follow-up on April 5, the victim provided paperwork from the night of the incident. The documentation from the hospital revealed the victim suffered from an acute minimally depressed fracture to the left nasal bone, as well as a laceration above her left eyebrow and soft tissue swelling overlying the left nasal bone. A CT scan was completed and showed she did not have intracranial hemorrhage or infraction. She also received stitches above her left eye and was referred to a specialist for follow up care.

The complaint notes the victim identified the woman who assaulted her as Jacklynn Lee Adams.

Later paperwork provided by the victim shows that she required outpatient surgery for the fracture of the nasal bone.

Officer Panebianco’s attempts to contact Adams have been unsuccessful.

The following charges were filed against Adams through Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office on September 19:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Disorderly Conduct Engage In Fighting, Misdemeanor 3
– Disorderly Conduct Hazardous/Physical Offense, Misdemeanor 3
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, with Judge Mizerock presiding.
