St. Michael Parish in Fryburg Celebrates 46th Annual Oktoberfest

FRYBURG, Pa. (EYT) — Join the fun and have “ein prosit der Gemütlichkeit” at St. Michael Parish in Fryburg on Saturday, October 19, for the 46th Annual Oktoberfest celebration!

St. Michael’s Oktoberfest began in 1973 as a way for the Fryburg community to celebrate and share its rich German heritage. The majority of Fryburg’s original settlers came from southwestern Germany throughout the 1820’s and 1830’s, particularly from the region of Baden-Württemberg in which its namesake, the city of Freiburg im Breisgau, is located.

The evening will feature a buffet of authentic German food made from the treasured recipes of St. Michael’s parishioners, as well as singing and dancing, games of chance, and raffles.

Live music will be performed by the band Leather & Lace.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m.; all guests must be 21 years or older to enter. Tickets are $25.00 and can be purchased in advanced at the following locations:

Fryburg: First United National Bank

Marble: Montana’s Country Café

Lucinda: St. Joseph Parish & St. Michael Parish Office; Kelly’s Grocery

Shippenville: Chris’ Tire Service

Clarion: Faller’s Better Furniture

Oil City: First United National Bank

Franklin: First United National Bank

All proceeds from the Oktoberfest benefit St. Michael Parish.

The Oktoberfest committee extends a special thank you to platinum level sponsors Fryburg Sportsman’s Club and Swartfager Welding for supporting this event.
