Bethany Hallam to Speak at Indivisible We Rise West Central PA’s Monthly Meeting on October 12

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — Bethany Hallam will be the guest speaker at the monthly meeting for local grassroots group Indivisible We Rise West Central PA on Saturday, October 12.

The event will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Clarion Free Library located at 644 Main Street.

Bethany Hallam, the Democratic nominee for Allegheny Council, will speak on “Vital Issues for Voters in Western PA.”

Hallam, a lifelong native of Ross Township in Allegheny County, runs her campaigns without any support from corporate PACs or special interests. She pulled off a stunning upset in the Democratic primary for the at-large Allegheny County Council seat, defeating a 20-year incumbent. She will speak about her advocacy for criminal justice reform, transparency in local government, small business based economic reform — among other progressive issues.

Her forthright honesty about her history with opioid addiction provides a fresh and firsthand perspective into our state’s systems for tackling the challenges of addiction. She advocates for oversight of the county jail systems, improving access to public transit, and improving transparency in local government. As these issues impacted her own life and struggles, her recovery and experience with the county’s criminal justice system are often in the forefront of her discussions.

Anyone interested in the importance of reforming criminal justice, the environment, economic opportunity, and local elections in the political landscape of Western Pennsylvania is welcome to attend Indivisible’s meeting.

Light refreshments will be provided.
