GOP House Leader to Address Clarion County Fall Dinner on October 24

CLARION, Pa. — Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Bryan Cutler of Lancaster County will be the keynote speaker at the annual fall dinner scheduled by Clarion County Republicans on Thursday, October 24, party chair Rick Rathfon announced this week.

Cutler, a member of the House from the 100th District, which includes Lancaster County, has served as the majority leader since 2018. He was first elected to the House in 2008. He and his wife are the parents of a daughter and two sons.

Other GOP leaders scheduled to attend the annual event include State Senator Scott Hutchinson of Venango County and State Representative, Clarion, who represents the 63rd District.

Also scheduled for the evening will be drawing of winners for prizes of gifts from friends of the GOP.

Rathfon said the county Republican committee met on October 8 and shared plans for the annual fall dinner, which will be held at Trinity Point Church of God, with a social hour starting at 5:00 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:00 p.m. The dinner will feature stuffed chicken breasts, mashed potatoes, a vegetable medley, beverages, and desserts to include peanut butter pie and Texas sheet cake.

Party faithful planning to attend the event should make their reservations by calling committee secretary Cindy Curran at 814-797-1321 or Rathfon at 814-227-5692. The fee for each reservation is $25.00, and payment for the reservations can be made the evening of the dinner.

“This rally will set the stage, not only for this November general election but also generate enthusiasm for the national presidential election to be held in 2020.

“There is so much riding on what will develop in the political arena over the next year that planning is not only essential for this year’s election, but also for what the Republican party must focus on for next year.

“We simply cannot sit idly by when there is so much required of all Republicans — and the moderate Democrats and Independents — who understand what the future could look like if anyone takes election outcomes for granted,” Rathfon said — adding that “getting everyone out to vote is absolutely critical.”

Regarding this year’s election, Rathfon said, informed Clarion County voters, regardless of party affiliation, need to assess what has been accomplished by the majority Republicans in the county commissioners office and be determined to return that majority of Ted Theran and Wayne Brosius for another four-year term.

“We simply cannot afford to be complacent and assume that the GOP will retain leadership in that critical county office. This is no time for political spectators.”

In addition to retaining the commissioners office, Rathfon added, “There are so many key elections that determine what happens in municipal and school district races where all of us are closest to those who make policy and taxing decisions that most closely impact us — and our pocketbooks.”
