Letter to the Editor: Mayoral Candidate Whitling Reaches Out to Clarion Borough Residents
Dear Clarion Borough Residents,
My name is Brett Whitling. After my family and our small business moved into Clarion Borough, I often find myself so grateful for the opportunity to be part of your community. Now that my family and I have established ourselves in what we call “our forever home,” I am running for the position of Clarion Borough Mayor this year and hope that I will have your vote.
This town means so much to me, and I want to do all I can to make it a great place to live. Over the past four years, I have dedicated much of my time to understanding Clarion with the intent of working to build a stronger community.
I have a vision of seeing our community become more involved and more connected. Our town has great amenities and I believe we need to celebrate those by working together toward common goals. While I have ideas of what some of those goals could be, such as creating an inviting environment for potential and current businesses to thrive, I want this experience to be for my family, my friends, and my neighbors. Being Mayor is not about holding a title or position, it is about the drive to be a positive influence for this great community and inspire others to do the same.
Watching the town change over the last decade has been inspiring. One aspect that has been incredibly moving for me was seeing art installed on buildings. As time went by, some of the pieces became weathered and were taken down with only some of it being replaced. It’s part of my vision to see this creativity be part of defining Clarion Borough.
As your Mayor, I plan on continuing my pursuit to seek opportunities that will build stronger relationships between neighbors, streets, and businesses. This also includes strengthening the relationship between Clarion Borough and Clarion University. By learning about each others needs and sharing resources, it’s possible we can create a sense of community that not only makes families want to be here, but could inspire surrounding communities and encourage people to make this their home as we have done.
I am writing to ask you to vote for me in the General Election on November 5. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me with the information provided. I am so thankful to be able to participate in this election, and I would be honored to serve as the Clarion Borough Mayor. Again, I thank you for your future support and look forward to the chance to meet many more of my neighbors.
