Marienville Man Accused of Slapping Woman, Placing Her in Headlock

JENKS TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Marienville man is facing charges following an incident where he allegedly slapped a woman and placed her in a headlock.

Court documents indicate the Marienville-based State Police filed criminal charges against 25-year-old Andrew J. Martinez, of Marienville.

According to a criminal complaint, around 4:02 a.m. on October 12, Marienville-based State Police received a call reporting a disturbance involving a man and a woman at a residence on South Forest Street in Jenks Township, Forest County.

At the scene, Troopers Snyder and Smith, of the Marienville-based State Police, met Andrew J. Martinez on the front porch of the residence.

According to the complaint, Martinez admitted to slapping the female victim with an open hand and also admitted to placing the victim in a headlock.

Martinez put his hands in front of him and told the troopers: “Take me away,” the complaint indicates.

The complaint states that Martinez allegedly went on to admit that he had been drinking and was intoxicated when he arrived home and had made statements about hurting himself and said the victim was attempting to calm him down. He told the troopers he was very adamant about hurting himself and to get his point across, he slapped the victim across the left side of her face with an open hand, then placed her in a headlock.

According to the complaint, the victim confirmed Martinez’s statements and related Martinez had entered the house visibly intoxicated around 2:20 a.m. and began punching cupboards in the kitchen and ripped two of the cupboard doors off. The victim said when she attempted to calm him down, he slapped her and placed her in a headlock. She also admitted to biting him on the left bicep in an attempt to get out of the headlock.

Martinez was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Todd A. Woodin at 10:00 a.m. on October 12 on the following charges:

– Strangulation — Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck, Misdemeanor 2
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary
– Public Drunkenness And Similar Misconduct, Summary

Unable to post $5,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Warren County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 24, with Judge Daniel L. Miller presiding.
