BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — Bill Black will present The Wilson Shute (36Cw05) at the Friday, November 15 meeting of the North Fork Chapter 29 Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology.

Between 1960 and 1963, Fred Brown led the Cussewago Chapter of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology in an extensive excavation of the Wilson Shute prehistoric Native American village site which is situated along French Creek, south of Meadville, in Crawford County.

When completed, he wrote a paper that was never published that included site maps, and examples of pottery and artifacts. Bill Black will present a review of the history, research limitations, and examples of pottery and artifacts to provide a better understanding of this important site.

The Wilson Shute (36Cw05) program begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church Education Building located at the Corner of Main and White Street in Brookville.

The program is free and open to the public.
