CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – The Practical Nursing Program operated by the Clarion County Career Center (CCCC) is shutting down, according to Hugh Henry, president of the Clarion Area School Board and member of the CCCC Joint Operating Board.

“There are a lot of changes taking place at CCCC and the Practical Nursing Program, but there are individuals interested in leasing the building,” Henry reported at the Tuesday night meeting of the Clarion Area School Board.

‘It’s unfortunate, but that’s where it is at. There are individuals interested in leasing that part of the facility and it would be a situation where our community could utilize it, but the individuals would provide the additional content.”

The program was designed to train students to be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), providing they pass state board exams. The Practical Nursing Program was fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and was provisionally approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Clarion Area Board Member Julie Hartley was recognized for her 12 years of service on the school board and presented with a gift.
