Local Man Retires After 41-Year Career in Insurance Industry

MARBLE, Pa. — Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company of Marble, Pa., has announced the retirement of Ronald Ochalek following a successful 41 years in the property and casualty insurance industry.

Ronald has been employed by Farmers Mutual for 39 years serving as Vice President of Claims since 1983.

As Vice President of Claims, Ronald was responsible for the oversight of the claims department managing adjusters to provide timely and efficient claim service to the company’s independent agents and policyholders throughout the state of Pennsylvania.

During Ronald’s career at Farmers, he has annually served on the Pennsylvania Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (PAMIC) Claims Committee serving as Chairman of the Claims Committee in 1997 and 2010. He also was active in the local state claims associations in Erie and Warren. He served as President of the Pennsylvania Claims Association in 1995. He began his career with State Automobile Insurance Association in 1978 before joining Farmers in 1980.

Ronald earned the Professional Farm Mutual Manager (PFMM) designation in 2019 from the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies.

Ronald is a 1974 graduate of Gannon University followed by completing a two-year post graduate research assistantship at West Virginia University.

Ronald resides in Oil City with his wife Meg. They have three children and eight grandchildren.

He plans on spending more time with his grandchildren and his hobbies which include hunting, fishing, and golfing.
