Robert Lee Traister

traisterRobert Lee Traister, 72, was born on January 31, 1947 in Clarion, PA and died on November 29, 2019 in Rochester, NY. He had been ill with multiple myeloma for approximately five years.

Bob was the eldest of three children born to Fred and Betty (Matthews) Traister. He was pre-deceased by his parents and his sister, Diane Lynn Conner.

Bob is survived by his youngest sister, Bonnie Ferguson, her husband, Joe, their two sons and their extended family. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Jerry Conner, his three sons and extended family.

Bob’s longtime friends, Sandra and Lynn Glanton, have been Bob’s NY state family and caregivers these past five years during his illness. Sandy and Lynn met Bob at Xerox Corporation when they worked together for many years.

Bob graduated from Clarion-Limestone High School in 1964. He moved away to attend Milwaukee School of Engineering in Wisconsin, where he earned a BS degree in Electrical Engineering. He moved to Rochester, NY to take a job at Xerox. He worked his way up from Engineering to Management in his years with the company.

Bob met many new friends throughout his years at Xerox. He maintained many of those friendships over the years and after he left to pursue other interests and jobs as a highly technical long-haul trucker and then as a driver for FedEx in their Custom Critical division.

Throughout his life, Bob was interested in many things: travel; technical advances of all sorts, whether it was in machinery, computers, software, or cell phones and their applications; motorcycles; downhill skiing; camping and canoeing; sports cars; stock car races; and feeding the birds and wild turkey in his backyard.

Private family viewing arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. Interment will be at Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville at the convenience of the family.

Bob was thankful and appreciative of all the treatment he received at Wilmot Cancer Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to multiple myeloma research at UR Medicine — Wilmot Cancer Center, 601 Elmwood Ave, Rochester, NY 14642.
