New Bethlehem Man Accused of Hitting Victim in the Face Outside Redbank Valley High School

NEW BETHLEHEM BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — A New Bethlehem man is facing criminal charges regarding an incident in which he allegedly struck a victim in the face outside the Redbank Valley High School last month.

Court documents indicate the New Bethlehem Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 34-year-old Scott Dean Summerville.

According to a criminal complaint, around 9:30 a.m. on November 22, Officer Airgood, of the New Bethlehem Borough Police Department, was called to the Redbank Valley High School for a report of a domestic assault in the parking lot.

According to the complaint, it was reported that Scott Dean Summerville struck a known victim in the face, causing the victim to have a bloody lip, red marks on the victim’s face, and swelling to the victim’s nose and lip.

The incident allegedly occurred as the victim and another individual were walking out of the high school.

Photos were taken of the victim’s injuries.

The complaint notes that Summerville allegedly admitted, in a written statement, that he struck the victim in the face.

Summerville was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey C. Miller at 2:15 p.m. on November 22, on the following charges:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

He remains free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, with Judge Miller presiding.
