Lee Ellis Stewart

stewartLee Ellis Stewart, 80, of Sandy Lake, passed away on December 5, 2019 at Quality Life Services – Mercer, surrounded by his loving family.
Lee was born in McRoberts, KY on January 11, 1939 to the late Mant and Mary Burke Stewart.

Following his 1957 graduation from Rocky Grove High School, Lee proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked for Overhead Door Company of Franklin for many years as a service manager. Lee was also a very skilled carpenter, and loved building things. He was always there to lend a hand and help others at the drop of a hat. Lee was a volunteer for Helping Hands in Stoneboro.

Lee was a member of Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church, where he participated in several mission trips including trips to Haiti, Georgia and South Dakota.

On August 5, 1981 Lee married his beloved wife, Shirley Ann Stewart, who survives at home.

In addition to his wife, Lee is survived by his children: Sherry (Frank) Krizinsky, of Polk, Lee (Lyn) Stewart, Jr., of Roanoke, VA, Doug (Sheri) Stewart, of Columbus, OH, Dawn (Kevin) Stewart-Hulsing, of Clarksburg, MD and Jeffery (Krystal) DeVault, of Sandy Lake; his grandchildren: Amber (Dave) Heckathorn, Lisa Krizinsky (Jarrett Geer), Katie Stewart, David Stewart, Trish Gugino, Ryan (Liz) Stewart, Chris (Mary) Stewart, Josh Stewart, Breauna (Kyle) Dotson, Brittany (Nathan) Deshner, Byron DeVault and Isaac DeVault; his siblings, Lloyd (Barb) Stewart, Ella Jean Forsell, Philip (Gail) Stewart, Eugene Stewart and Nora (Don) Cheers; and numerous Great-Grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his son, Frank DeVault and his first wife, Kathleen “Kitty” Stewart.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome on Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.

A Memorial Service will be held at Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church, 3096 Sandy Lake-Grove City Road, Stoneboro, on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Adam Simcik officiating. Following the Memorial Service, full Military Honors will be rendered by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard, of Franklin.

In Lieu of Flowers the family asked that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s Association National Capital Area Chapter, 8180 Greensboro Drive, Suite 400, McLean, VA 22102, and/or Sandy Lake Wesleyan Mission Fund, c/o Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church, 3096 Sandy Lake-Grove City Road, Stoneboro, PA 16153.
