INDIANA, Pa. (EYT) – After serving the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for 35 years as a civil engineer for the Department of Transportation, Joseph P. Dubovi, III has announced his retirement.
A 1983 Penn State graduate, Dubovi has been the District Engineer for the last 13 1/2 years at PennDOT’s Engineering District 10 where he has been responsible for over 800 employees in five counties (Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Indiana, and Jefferson), more than 6700 lane-miles of road, nearly 1700 bridges, and an annual budget of over $200 million.
“Mr. Dubovi has been a distinguished leader for the Department of Transportation throughout his career,” said PennDOT Deputy Secretary for Highway Administration George McAuley. “We greatly appreciate the success that Engineering District 10 and PennDOT, as a whole, has experienced from Joe’s influence. Joe has fostered strong relationships and built a strong team that will carry that success forward. We wish him well in his retirement.”

- State Route (SR) 58 Foxburg Bridge over the Allegheny River
- SR 22 Clyde Project –the last piece of SR 22 to be expanded to four lanes in Indiana County
- SR 1038 West Kittanning Bridge and Roadway
- SR 356 Wayne Street Viaduct;
- I-79 Seneca Missing Ramps
- SR 228 Mars Railroad Bridge and Intersection Widening
- SR 228/I-79 Ramps
- SR 422 Widening and Theater Road Realignment
- SR 119 Project at Homer City – Widening/Bridge Removal/Bridge Replacement SR 436 Margiotti Bridge
- SR 119 Grove Chapel Climbing Lane
- SR 422 Moraine State Park Access
- SR 228 Pittsburgh Street Widening
Projects in process:
- SR 422 Kittanning Elementary Intersection & Widening
- SR 68 Dolby Street in Clarion County
- I-80 Canoe Creek Bridges (Clarion County, under design for construction in 2022)
- I-80 North Fork bridges (Jefferson County, under design for 2024 construction)
Dubovi’s wife of 30 years, Pamela (Smoter) Dubovi, said, “I can’t wait to spend every day with him!” Indeed, the Dubovis plan to spend a bit of time traveling and a lot of time relaxing with their four adult children. Dubovi will be retiring effective December 27, 2019.
