HARRISBURG, Pa. – Efforts to repair the dam at Kahle Lake will soon benefit from the release of state funds, according to Rep. Donna Oberlander (R-Clarion/Armstrong/Forest) and Sen. Scott Hutchinson (R-Venango/Clarion/Butler/Forest/Warren).

“Today’s funding announcement is great news for those who use Kahle Lake,” said Oberlander, who has held public meetings with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) to hear the public’s concerns about the dam and lake. “This funding will include planning and engineering, and will allow repairs to be done in a more timely manner so the lake can reopen sooner.”

The lawmakers have been working on a plan of action at the lake, which is located in both Venango and Clarion counties, for the past few years. At 251 acres, the facility is owned by the Commonwealth and managed by PFBC for public fishing and boating.

“This is excellent news for local anglers,” said Hutchinson. “Kahle Lake is a local gem that offers great chances to catch nice-sized bass, panfish and more. It is my understanding the lake will remain open to anglers and boaters throughout the design and permitting process.”

A public meeting is being planned to update local residents about the project.

Kahle Lake is one of 10 dams that will receive $43.5 million as part of a multi-year funding plan from the state and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.
