Clarion, Pa. – The Clarion Free Library will host its annual Autumn Leaf Reception on Friday, September 20th from 5:30-8:00 p.m.  The Autumn Leaf Reception is the unofficial kick-off to Clarion’s Autumn Leaf Festival.  The reception which also raises funds for the library, is a much anticipated event, with delicious light refreshments and an entertaining cultural program.

The Clarion Free Library is pleased to announce that the topic for the 2013 Autumn Leaf Reception will be “Clarion Goes to the Movies: Cecil B. DeMille’s UNCONQUERED”.  UNCONQUERED was partially filmed in Cook Forest in the late 1940s; the movie and the hubbub that was created when Hollywood came to Clarion will be the focus of a lively and entertaining presentation by Dr. Todd Pfannesteil, Associate Professor of History at Clarion University.

Dr. Pfannesteil will share his research on the making of the film in Cook Forest as well as entertaining stories about the event, pictures, and clips from the film.  Prior to the presentation about the film, a selection of light chamber music will be provided by Dr. Paula Amrod and Dr. Brent Register of Clarion University’s music faculty.

The Autumn Leaf Reception is an opportunity for the public to enjoy an elegant evening of socializing and educational entertainment at the library.  Hors d’oeuvres and a selection of fine wines will be available.  Tickets to the reception are available at the Clarion Free Library at a cost of $20.00 for singles and $35.00 for couples.
