Helen Jean McIntyre

Member_131461Helen Jean McIntyre, 81, of Clarion Street in Oil City died at 1:08 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2014 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca following a brief illness.

Born March 4, 1932 in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Marion S. and Mary Ann Morrison Goodwill.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Oil City.

Helen most enjoyed the company of her family, children, and grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and was an avid reader.

Mrs. McIntyre worked for Grant’s Dry Cleaning in Oil City, and was an assistant manager for the Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurant in Oil City for many years, where she became well known for her coleslaw recipe.

She was married in Oil City on August 7, 1948 to John E. McIntyre, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Lea Jolley and Terry Krawiec and her husband Joe, all of Oil City; two grandsons, Michael McIntyre of North Carolina and David G. Arlington and his wife Leah of Seneca; a granddaughter, Michael-Shannon Prahl of Franklin; nine great-grandchildren: Ashley Arlington, Ocean and Legend McIntyre, Ashley, Hudson, Samuel, and Anna Moore, Jacob Harton and Tyscen Reed; and one great-great-grandchild, Braylen Rhoades.

She is also survived by two brothers, Guy “Spike” Goodwill and his wife Margie of Oil City, and John “Jake” Goodwill and his wife Beth of Dover, Delaware; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Beale and Virginia Womer; and a brother, Samuel Goodwill.

Friends will be received Thursday (Feb. 27th) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Townsihp. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Friday (Feb. 28th) at noon, and a visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Ronee Christy, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Oil City, will officiate.

Interment will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery in Oil City.
