‘Brandon’s Dad’ Organization Receives WalMart Community Grant
CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – The Brandon’s Dad non-profit organization of Clarion was recently presented a check for $750 through the WalMart Community Grant program to help educate the young and old about the dangers of Alcohol use for teens and the real effects of drinking and driving.
Presenting the check to Vernon Hilyer, also known as Brandon’s Dad, is the Clarion WalMart store manager, Ben Pfeufer. Mr. Pfeufer says this organization certainly meets the criteria for their Community Grant Program.
Brandon’s Dad began speaking to high school students around Prom time in 2009, shortly after the loss of his son Brandon in September of 2008 due to Brandon’s crash while Driving Under the Influence. Vernon’s program has grown to speaking at high schools all across the western half of Pennsylvania. He has also spoken at Universities in three states, youth detention centers and alternative education schools, adult DUI probation classes in three counties, and in three state prisons.
Brandon’s Dad also has a billboard program throughout the county and is working on funding one on Interstate-80. There is also a new prevention post to soon be laminated in the tables at the County Seat Restaurant in Clarion. These are funded by the organization so that college students and people from near and far will see this important life changing message.
Brandon’s Dad’s one goal in his efforts is to impact and save one more person’s life every day, by preventing injury or death to a possible DUI offender or to an innocent victim. Vernon says, “Driving Under the Influence not only destroys lives, but also many parents’ dreams. The sad part is that we will never know who could be next. Driving Under the Influence is a very preventable choice.”
If you would also like to make a 100% tax deductible donation to help the Brandon’s Dad organization save lives, you can mail a check to Brandon’s Dad, 204 W. Tar Kiln Rd., Clarion, PA 16214, donate thru PayPal at [email protected], or use the donate button on their web page. Every dollar is used to save one more dream.
