Within five days, over $103,000.00 was generated for local nonprofits through the Week of Giving campaign.

Checks were distributed to each participating nonprofit with a list of each donor who supported them with a donation.

Bridge Builders Community Foundations launched the first area Week of Giving event to spur collective charitable giving that was pro-rated through the foundation and allowed donors to give to numerous nonprofits throughout Clarion, Forest, and Venango counties as well as the community of Punxsutawney.

Trenton Moulin, executive director of Bridge Builders Community Foundations, told exploreClarion.com, “We are very pleased with the success of our first Week of Giving event.”

“I want to extend a special thank you to an anonymous donor who took care of ALL the online transaction fees, so all of the money donated went directly to the charities,” added Trenton.

Bridge Builders was able to provide a 25% match through the generosity of their Partner in Giving, Northwest Savings Bank.

Bridge Builders Community Outreach Partner, Explore Your Town media — exploreVenango.com, exploreClarion.com and ExploreJeffersonPA.com — helped promote the Week of Giving event. Explore Your Town also donated three advertising packages to the top performing nonprofits.

Lauren Lupinacci, Office Administrator, also played a huge part in the success of the campaign. She worked diligently to keep the records updated throughout the week.

Brandon’s Dad received the largest grand total and the most individual donations during the Week of Giving.

Vernon Hilyer, who lost his son in a tragic DUI rollover accident, has a mission to keep every kid alive and safe when it comes to alcohol decisions. Mr. Hilyer has a very direct approach to changing the way kids, and adults, think about drinking and driving. He gives a one hour presentation on DUI and its effects and uses some very eye opening photos of a very demolished SUV. His presentation dwells on how DUI affects, not just yourself, but everyone else around you..forever.
