Community Invited to Meet Candidates for Clarion University Presidency

Clarion University winterCLARION, Pa. – Clarion University Presidential Search Committee has invited three candidates for university president to visit campus and conduct open forums.

Community members, along with employees and students, are welcome and encouraged to attend and provide feedback via a survey managed by the firm, AGB Search. The link to the survey will be open on the university’s presidential search webpage on the first day of the corresponding candidate interview, and all three links will remain active for comments through midnight March 10.

pres search Robert Glenn

Dr. Robert (Bob) Glenn is president of Athens State University, Athens, Alabama, and has been that institution’s president since 2008. His open forum is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on February 26 in the Suites on Main North Theater.

pres search Martin Abraham

Dr. Martin Abraham is provost at Youngstown State University and has been in that role since 2014. His open forum is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on March 5 in the Suites on Main North Theater.

pres search David Urban

Dr. David Urban is dean of Jennings A. Jones College of Business at Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, Tennessee. His open forum is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on March 7 in the Suites on Main North Theater.

Each candidate’s vita can be found on the university’s presidential search webpage at www.clarion.edu/about-clarion/leadership/office-of-the-president/presidential-search.html.

Next steps include a meeting of the search committee March 14 to review the feedback from the surveys and the interaction with the Clarion University community.

At the end of that meeting, the search committee may recommend two candidates to the Council of Trustees. The Council of Trustees has scheduled a special public meeting to review the recommendations at 11:00 a.m. on March 15. If approved by the Council of Trustees, those names will be forwarded to the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Board of Governors, who will interview the candidates and select the next president of Clarion University.
