Clarion Label Shopper to Close on August 1

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — The Label Shopper store at the Clarion Mall will be closing its doors this summer.

According to store associates, the Clarion Label Shopper store is expected to close permanently on August 1, 2018.

Label Shopper first opened in its Clarion Mall location in the spring of 2011.

Founder of Label Shopper Peter Elitzer started his first business called “Pete the Peddler” while in college. Elitzer searched the market for off-price buys of top designer and brand name clothes and sold them out of a truck on the college campus. Elitzer opened Peter Harris Clothes store in 1970 and then expanded, creating sister store Label Shopper.

Store management declined to comment on the closure of Label Shopper and calls to the corporate office for comment were not returned as of Thursday afternoon.

The Clarion Mall has struggled through its share of closures over recent years, losing the Med-Fast Pharmacy in October of 2017, as well as the major blow of the loss of the K-Mart anchor store in January of 2018.
