New Bethlehem Man Accused of Sending Letter to Clarion County Court Threatening Corrections Officer

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A New Bethlehem man, currently incarcerated in state prison, is facing a terroristic threats charge after allegedly sending a letter to Judge Arner threatening a corrections officer.

Court documents indicate that Clarion County Detective William Peck IV filed criminal charges against 27-year-old Joseph David Supik, of New Bethlehem.

According to a criminal complaint, on Monday, July 9, Clarion County Court of Common Pleas President Judge James Arner’s office received a letter dated July 4 from Joseph D. Supik.

Supik is currently an inmate at PA State Corrections in Somerset.

According to the complaint, in the letter, Supik mentions a prior criminal case in which he threatened a Clarion County Corrections Officer and his family.

Supik writes, “I was wrong i didn’t want to hurt his family I wanted (to) kill him slowly for the face he let my cousin die on the way to the hospital last year so I will be beating his (expletive) when I do see him,” according to the complaint.

In the letter, Supik also stated “Am I joking, NO I am not, he let my cousin die so he deserves to be beaten the (expletive) up.” At the end of the letter, Supik again mentions that he is “NOT JOKING,” according to the complaint.

The complaint also notes the letter was signed by Supik and sent in a PA Department of Corrections inmate mail envelope and listed Supik’s inmate number.

Based on the investigation, one count of first-degree misdemeanor terroristic threats was filed against Supik in Magisterial District Judge Duane L. Quinn’s office on Monday, July 23.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, with Judge Quinn presiding.
