The Clarion Free Library, the Redbank Valley Public Library, and the Knox Public Library all recently wrapped up their summer programs.

“We had a lot of fun activities this summer,” Jaylene Smith, Director of the Redbank Valley Public Library, told

Each of the libraries has their own take on summer programs with activities from sand art, a variety of games and crafts, and even a trip to the Clarion University Planetarium for some of the children involved.

Knox Public Library’s summer program even received support through a Dollar General grant this year that helped pay for materials and prizes for the participants.

“It was a really good year,” Knox Library Children’s Library’s Erin Lloyd said.

Now that the summer programs have drawn to a close, many area libraries are looking forward and planning for the fall.

The Redbank Valley Public Library is planning some painting classes, as well as a book and bake sale.

They will also be hosting a pre-school playgroup from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays.

“We have a lot of services available, too, more than just books,” Smith said. “We are really willing to help with anything people need help with.”

The Knox Public Library will be starting up Storytime again in September, with one- and two-year-olds meeting at 10:30 a.m. the first Tuesday of the month, and three- to five-year-olds meeting at 10:30 a.m. the third Tuesday of the month.

At 10:30 a.m. every third Saturday of the month there will also be a Block Party, with legos, wooden blocks, magnetic blocks, and more for children to explore.

Their adult book club will meet the fourth Monday of each month. Although the club currently meets at 6:30 p.m., the time may change as the days grow shorter in the winter.

Lloyd noted that the Knox Public Library is also trying to clear out the books they currently have for sale in order to make space for some upcoming renovations.
