Clarion County 9-1-1 received the call around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, for a structure fire at an apartment complex located at 202 North 2nd Avenue in Clarion Borough.

Clarion Fire & Hose Company No. 1, Limestone Volunteer Fire Department, Clarion Borough Police, and Clarion Hospital Ambulance Service were dispatched.

According to Doug Preston, Chief of Clarion Fire & Hose Company No. 1, the fire, which is believed to be accidental in nature, mainly damaged a recliner chair in the apartment.

“It didn’t burn anything in the apartment other than the chair, but there was other smoke and heat damage,” Preston told exploreClarion.com.

A moderate amount of smoke could be seen coming from the second floor of the building around the time the call came in; however, no flames were visible from the exterior of the structure.

Residents of the complex were evacuated.

One individual was transported from the scene by ambulance for treatment of injuries of an unknown nature and severity.

The scene was cleared around 3:47 p.m.
