Breezy Bandit: Clarion Woman’s Alleged AC Heist Leaves Neighbor Steamed

CLARION TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police say a local woman is facing charges for stealing her neighbor’s portable air conditioning unit in Clarion Township in 2023.

According to court documents filed on Monday, March 25, 2024, Clarion-based State Police filed criminal charges against 37-year-old Tristan Nichole Robertson, of Clarion, in District Judge Timothy P. Schill’s office

According to a criminal complaint, a known female victim called PSP Clarion on April 21, 2023, and reported that her portable air conditioning unit was stolen off of her back porch on South 2nd Avenue in Clarion Township.

The theft of the air conditioning unit was believed to have occurred during the time frame of January 3, 2023, and January 12, 2023, the complaint states.

Troopers interviewed the victim, who related she put the black portable air conditioning unit on the back porch of her apartment because she was not using it at that time. She then left her apartment for a couple of days and when she came back, the unit was gone, the complaint indicates.

The value of the air conditioning unit is $163.00, the complaint notes.

According to the complaint, the victim told police she lives on the second floor of an apartment building with two other apartments, which all share a front and back porch with no dividers. The victim said she spoke with her neighbor, who related that she saw their other neighbor, Tristan Robertson, take it from the back porch and into her apartment.

Troopers spoke with the witness, who confirmed that she saw Robertson grab the air conditioning unit from the back porch and take it into her own apartment, the complaint continues.

Troopers then made contact with Robertson and asked her about the incident. She stated that she thought the victim was done with the air conditioning unit, so she took it and brought it into her own apartment, the complaint indicates.

Robertson was charged with the following:

  • Theft by Unlawful Taking – Movable Property, Misdemeanor 2

She is currently awaiting a preliminary hearing.
