Woman Seriously Injured in Motorcycle vs. Bear Crash

ELDRED TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Two people were injured after a motorcycle collided with a bear on Route 36 in Eldred Township, Jefferson County.

State police in Marienville said the accident happened on Saturday evening when a bear traveled into the path of a motorcycle operated by 63-year-old Gregory A. Vrobel of Punxsutawney.

Police said Vrobel’s motorcycle collided with the bear in the southbound lane of Route 36.

Vrobel’s motorcycle subsequently fell onto its left side and traveled off the roadway.

The motorcycle then crashed into a utility pole, police said.

Vrobel sustained moderate injuries in the crash.

A passenger, 54-year-old Laura A. Luther, of Dravosburg, sustained major injuries.

Both were transported to Brookville Hospital for treatment.

There’s no word on their current conditions.
