Delores Bell

Delores Bell, age 86, of Knox, died Wednesday morning January 25, 2012, at the Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sligo, following a brief illness.

Born February 10, 1925 in Corsica, Jefferson County, she was a daughter of the late Byrd R. and Garnet Neiswonger Sherman.

She married John L. Bell on July 10, 1944. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2000.

Delores worked for Owens-Illinois and ASR Medical Supply. She was of the Methodist faith.

She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, eating out and had a passion for animals. She was known, and will remembered by many, for her generosity.

Survivors include her two grandchildren, Mark A. Bell of Kossuth and Saundra Henry of Clarion; two great granddaughters, Tabatha VanDyke of Leeper and Lana Bell of Clarion; two great great grandchildren, Ethan and Haley and one sister, Claire “Toot” Stromyer of Strattanville. She is also survived by her good friend and companion, Willis Elliott.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Robert L. Bell in 1991, her twin sister, DeRose and sisters, Lorraine, Jane and Dot. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Byrd, Dan and infant brother, Russell.

Friends will be received from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2012 in the funeral home. Reverend David Coul, pastor of the Knox United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Sligo.
